One thing that has changed since I started this blog was that I moved from my longtime
residence in Boulder county, to a cute little 3 bedroom, 2 bath home in Denver's Montclair neighborhood. At the time, the reaction from peers in the workplace as well as my close friends was multiple stages of confusion. The first being, "where is that?!" followed by the second, "why out there?!". If you know of the Montclair neighborhood, you are aware that it truly is one of the hidden gems within the Denver city limits.
Unlike many of the close in neighborhoods in the city, Montclair boasts large lots that are becoming rarer and rarer to find. I have a large dog named Bailey who was not going to be ok with life in the city where her only chances of getting outside were for walks or lying on a balcony. I've also discovered after all those years growing up moaning and dreading any sort of yard work, I'm a bit of a green thumb. Since moving in, I've built a flagstone patio, flower bed along my front entry, storage shed, fire pit and my pet project, a koi pond(All projects I'll talk about in the future). Last Spring, Summer and Fall were surprisingly lame around the house as I was never able to enjoy any of this, since the last of it was not done until after the first snow. So I am truly excited for the warm season ahead! Something I have seen first hand is that people do love their backyards in Montclair. You'll have all the room you need to do whatever it is that you want.
Montclair also has some of the most beautiful historic homes that you will find in the city, including those along the streets of Olive and Oneida among others, not to mention the amazing Richthofen Castle at the corners of 12th and Pontiac. Seriously, I live two blocks away from a European castle! Residents fall in love with the architecture within the community, while visitors will be blown away that they didn't know this place existed. Walks around the neighborhood are an absolute enjoyment as you get to see and experience the beauty that it has lying in it.
Another thing that has set Montclair apart from neighboring areas like Park Hill and Mayfair is that Montclair had up until the last year, avoided the severe spike in home prices that other areas had seen. This has somewhat changed since the end of last summer, when values finally went up over 15% a square foot year over year. Though this should not deter the future home buyer as prices are still extremely reasonable. Something that drew me was the opportunity for first time home buyers, so many neighborhoods around town that catered to this crowd have been priced out, but the potential for finding an entry level home was and is still a possibility. The streets of Poplar and Pontiac while also homes between 13th and Colfax provide the best opportunity to find something under or around $300,000.
There are many more things to love about this beautiful Denver neighborhood, but you'll have to experience that for yourself... or wait for future blogs. I'm Back!
Holy smokes, I can't believe I was able to even remember where this site was! I posted a few years ago saying that I was going to regularly post about Denver real estate and what it was like to be a young agent in this bustling market. In hindsight it would have probably been a good idea to actually write said posts, but I don't generally like to pretend to be an expert on something, unless I truly feel that I am. So when you are a young agent that is first handed their license, you are the farthest thing from an expert. As was the case for me, I chose not to put my foot in my mouth and say things I wasn't truly comfortable saying.
Today I sit before my computer a changed man, it's been over 3 years since that post and I have now successfully transacted real estate in Denver. I'll use this blog to not only inform about real estate, but also to mix in a multitude of other categories and experiences that have taken part in my life thus far, and new ones that come along the way to help those of you out there living in or thinking of moving to Denver. Let's have some fun!

Welcome
This is just going to be an initial introduction to my site and a little about me. I'll do my best to keep my posts relatively short and sweet. They will vary from topic to topic and could range from my life in real estate to fitness to food to what is going on with the Denver sports teams and beyond. If you are looking to buy a home in the Denver or Boulder areas, please visit my website at www.DenverHomeKings.com or www.BoulderHomeKings.com. Feel free to be active and send me any questions you may have.
